Please enjoy the first ever podcast from The Autopian. Beau Boeckmann, David Tracy and Jason Torchinsky introduce themselves. David is in a German bathroom, for some reason. They talk cars, they talk Hanomags (which are like cars), and they talk about how David became the leader of the Jeep Wrangler JL cooling systems team at the ripe old age of 21.
Our podcast will come out every Wednesday morning and include David, Beau, Jason and special guests talking about the car news of the week as well as whatever questionable choices they’ve made in their lives.
You can listen to the podcast on Apple Podcasts (eventually), Spotify, or wherever you like to get your podcasts. We’ll also be adding video versions of the podcast for those who are so inclined to our YouTube page (which you should also subscribe to).
Just to get you hooked, we’ve uploaded three more episodes:
It’s perfect listening for people with long commutes, extended workouts, or frequent elective surgeries.
Let us know how you’re enjoying them!
[Editor’s Note: Hi, it’s David here. We’re of course looking forward to your feedback, as this is our first go at this and The Autopian as an organization champions continuous improvement. We’re excited to bring on more guests, and if there’s anyone you want to hear from, let us know and we’ll see if we can get Jason to beg long enough for them to cave. -DT]
That was so interesting in so many way i dont know where to start!
Well done guys. I look forward to more of this in future
Sweet; been enjoying the hell out of your site. Can’t wait to check it out
I’m subscribed to your YouTube channel and am looking forward to this!
I’m not a fan of podcasts either, but I’ll check this one out for sure.
On a more important note: is the car in the podcast banner a Fiat 124? It looks like one for the most part but there are few minor differences so it might be something else. Inquiring minds want to know!
It’s a Fiat 128, a size smaller and FWD but very much of the same design team and era as the 124. Was sold in the US new in the ’70s but more frequently seen here as a 2-door, particularly early on before the big-bumper law.
Begone, bot
That *was* a reply to a bot account that commented some scam link. But while I’m here, I’m really stoked to listen to this through my afternoon slump.
The voice audio is only coming through my left ear, but the intro music comes though in stereo. I think there’s a bit of a mixing issue.
That said, I laughed when you mentioned the “publication you used to work for’ running another “ban cars” article and that you will probably never do that.
What about accessibility? Will transcripts be provided? Will the YouTube videos be captioned? (Auto-generated captioning has come a long way but there’s still so much room for improvement that actual captioning would be greatly preferred.)
How about bringing on someone from Consumer Report’s “Tslking Cars” podcast. You folks could probably do a good job of talking with someone whose views and opinions could be expected to differ from yours.
Now we need an article on the heating tube in the Humvee
“We’re excited to bring on more guests, and if there’s anyone you want to hear from, let us know”
Richard Porter (ex-script editor for Top Gear/Grand Tour, now of the Smith And Sniff podcast with Jonny Smith). Has written several books of “boring car trivia” so could have an “obscure facts about cars nerd-off” with Torch.
No I am not Richard Porter.

Any reason why it’s not (yet) available on Apple Podcasts? I don’t use Spotify, and my podcast app of choice (Overcast) uses the Apple Podcasts directory for episodes and it can’t find you. I listen to podcasts when I go running, so YouTube isn’t an option.
Edit : all 4 episodes are there now
curious as to why they haven’t deleted this account yet
This is great news!
Yes! I’ve been waiting for this. If anyone else is having trouble finding the podcast and don’t want to wait for it to show up in your favorite source for podcasts you can use the RSS feed: https://feeds.captivate.fm/pdspaxx1qedpxxq5pvjlvu
As soon as this shows up on Google Podcasts, I’m on it.
Greg Migliore and his Autoblog crew have dominated my automotive podcast lineup for too long.
I couldn’t find it on Google podcasts either, but if you go to podcasts.google.com you can add it by using the RSS feed: https://feeds.captivate.fm/pdspaxx1qedpxxq5pvjlvu
Awesome! Thank you!!
Looking forward to listening to it.
You’re my hero.
Is this in the US only? Not showing up in my normal pod catcher nor Spotify for me (UK listener)
Sounds good guys! Weird question though – only listening to the Hyundai podcast so far, but the sound seems like it’s only coming out of the left channel?
The music comes through in stereo, so I think they have a mixing issue.
Looking forward to it. Currently only the first episode is showing up in my Podcast tool of choice (Pocket Casts).
Never mind, the other three just showed up 🙂
As a whole, I don’t like podcasts. But this? This I will gladly listen to and have followed it on Spotify.
Observation: the tag on Spotify is ‘Comedy.’ Totally appropriate.
